Can. Morrisons. 6.3%. Clear, mid amber colour. Thick and bubbly, glossy, pale ginger head. Nose has rye spice. Pine resin. Buttery granary bread. Toffee apple. Taste is sweet and lightly spicy. Pine resin bitterness. Chewy mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Chewy bitter finish. Hopped up amber ale. As such, pretty good, but it ain't no IPA.

Can from Morrison’s, Harwich. Poured a hazy medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is malt, woody, light resin hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a crisp, woody, metallic hop bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Can (Alc 6.3%) from Morrisons, Watford, Herts. A dark amber coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Hoppy, malty, caramel, grapefruit aroma. Tastes hoppy, malty, caramel, grapefruit, hint of pine. This reminded me a bit of Lagunitas Maximus but more bitter. Enjoyable IPA and 3 for a fiver in Morrisons, I can see myself returning for more.

14th July 2017, random tasting session with myself; beer number seven. 6.3% ABV, 330ml can BBE Feb 2018, poured into a Leffe badged chalice. Bronze body, clear and clean, on top an off-white head. The nose had a piny and dank hop aroma, very ’West Coast of America’. The taste followed the same lines. Liked it, bitter and moody.

Hazy medium amber colour, good two finger creamy beige head, half-way lasting, heavy lacing. Aroma pale malts, grain, resin, caramel, light citrus. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, resin, burnt caramel, dusty. Malty sweetbitter finish, burnt caramel, dusty, ashy. Light body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Though low in alcohol surprisingly ’full’ feeling IPA, well-balanced and tasty.

Keg at the Cambridge Blue. Amber, clear, with a contained off-white head. Strong resinous aroma with foraged fruit, forest floor and light resin notes. Bittersweet taste which keeps an admirable balance to the finish. Bitter earthy hop in the aftertaste. A well-executed low-strength IPA. Id love to have more of this!

330ml can. Pours a clear and quite dark brown colour for an IPA, off-white head. Aroma is fruity, malty, marmalade, pine. Taste of fruity grassy hops, sweet caramel malt, toffee, marmalade, spice, lightly bitter finish. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Quite a malty IPA, nicely balanced.
