'Mad Friday' 2025 Beer#11. Eleventh brew on one of the busiest drinking days of the year. Reddish clear brown easy enough porter with a blast of sweetish chocolate in taste, and fairly smooth too.

Seasonal beer on Christmas Party night, it's a relatively decent 'winter warmer' - certainly looks the part, dark chestnut brown with a creamy tan head and a sweet fruit pudding aroma. Medium bodied, but not overly creamy, there's plenty of fruit and malt, maybe a little hint of spice in the dry and very slightly bitter finish.

On cask at the Standing Order. Appearance - deep brown to black with brown chinks. Neat fawn head. Nose - honey , prunes and getting into molasses. Taste - more prunes, stewed apples. Burnt toffee. Palate - medium bodied, sweet while being tangy and dry in places. Overall - good gear.

Cask, half pint at Crosse Keys (JDW) in London, shared with Finn. Clear, deep dark brown body. Beige head, some of it remaining. Dark malty aroma with hints of almond. Malty flavours as well, including nuts, caramel and anise. Roasted bitter ending. Medium bodied. Fits the season (30.11.2015).

Cask at William Jolle (Spoons), Northwood Hills. A dark brown/ruby coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Malty, caramel, dark fruit aroma. Tastes the same, malty, caramel, dark fruit, slightly nutty (like me). One of the better UK festive brews available.

Cask at the Moon Under Water (JDW), Watford on 27 December 2013. Poured a clear, dark ruby colour with a dense, off-white head and excellent head. Sweet aroma of caramel, Christmas pudding and almonds. Initial flavours dark fruit, chestnuts and apple pie. Toasted malt on the palate with some cinnamon and some stewed fruit.
