At ZBF 2011, Sint-Niklaas: Orange coloured brew with an sweet taste and bite of ginger, and a well balanced sweetbitter finish.

33cl bottle on 21st October 2024, Cafe Botteltje, Ostend. Hazy blonde with a full on white crown. The ginger is only a minor part to play in this interesting beer (thank goodness), there is a lot going on from the first sip to the last. Citrus and yeasty elements being just two more items within the brews make up.

Bottle. Unclear yellow body with floaters under a big white head. Rather mild aroma of pale malt, Belgium yeast, ginger and spices. Taste is mild malt, yeast but strong on the ginger and spices in general. Medium body and ginger aftertaste. Not great, but a decent ginger ale.

Golden color, clear. Strong ginger aroma. Malty ginger flavor. Medium bodied. Sweet with not even a hint of alcohol. I don't like ginger (=gember), but it fits with this beer and it is not annoying. Clean palate. Still not a beer I would buy more often.

Déception avec cette De Graal Gember qui manque d'équilibre et de structuration. Robe blond doré voilé (EBC aux alentours de 17) surmontée d'une mousse blanche de 8 mm d'épaisseur. Nez pas exceptionnel avec orange, gingembre, citronnelle, céréales, un brin acidulé et avec un petit côté plastique. L'attaque est également acidulée et toujours avec ce petit goût de plastique avec, en complément du miel, du gingembre et des agrumes. Pas réellement équilibré. La deuxième bouche voit l'amertume et l'acidité monter en intensité avec un gingembre qui devient plus présent. L'arrière, linéaire reste peu équilibrée. La troisième bouche est la plus appréciable, sur un bon équilibre aromatique et un gingembre très bien intégré. Le final, peu intéressant, ne continue malheureusement pas sur la lancée. Trop court, retrouvant l'acidité avec des arômes de citron et gingembre. L'alcool, pourtant à 8% Abv, ne structure pas assez la bière et le sucre quant à lui est légèrement surdosé. Dans le genre, on fait mieux.

F: huge, white, long lasting. C: gold, hazy. A: malty, spicy, fruity, floral, bit of ginger, cinnamon. T: malty, cinnamon, ginger, spicy, fruity, floral, medium to full body, medium carbonation, soapy mouthfeel, ginger beer, good balanced, enjoyed, 33cl bottle from Prik & Tik ABC Drinks in Leuven.
