Raspberry Brown Ale

Frambozen begins with the aroma of fresh red raspberries, followed by the ripe seductiveness of a fruity brown ale with depth and delicate malt notes. It is deep ruby in color, with flavors just as rich. Every year, New Belgium sends a delegate to the Pacific Northwest to oversee the process of turning freshly picked berries into a pure juice to be added in fermentation. The coming of Thanksgiving at New Belgium is ushered in with the first sighting of our cellar operators scuttling about, covered head to tow in a festive crimson berry wash.

bottle - Pours dark amber with a small, lingering head. It smells of raspberries and some caramel malt. The flavor is sweet and full of raspberries. The malt contributes some good sweet caramel malt notes with light roast and in my opinion supports the ample fruitiness better than most fruit beers that tend to be light ales, often wheat ales, with fruit added. This one works better.

Bottle. Poured brown with medium head. Smeary lacing. Aroma is malt with a raspberry tinge. Pleasing and not a berry bomb. Flaver is mild to sweet, raspberry flavour on malt. Some tang to the finish, with more raspberry.

12 ounce bottle... I think from BelgianBeerGal but not sure. A trade from someone, so thanks! Pours a clear ruby red color with a large head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma is lightly tart raspberries, faint cocoa and something a bit cheesy. Taste is tart raspberries and chocolate. A bit thin.

courtesy of vasdef42. Pours copper with a thick beige head. My last few New Belgium beer have had an amazing frothy lasting head. Sign of a good beer. Aroma has plenty of tart raspberry purée. Taste was purely amazing. Thick raspberry mouthfeel lingers in the mouth with medium notes of raspberry tartness. This time around, unlike so many other beers you can tell the overall purée side of the fruits that is loaded with raspberry and berry. Overall hints, has hints of chocolate malts, and some floral hops.Reminded me a lot of an icecream.

Not very good at all. 93rd style percentile? Really? Red in color. Artificial raspberry aroma and flavor, and there is not enough of either. Dry.
