Cask at Thornbridge. Aroma of grain mostly. Taste has grain as well, with lots of nasty soap. This is a miss. Thin body.

Gravity cask at the 2015 Red Lion Beer Festival, Histon. Light gold with the tiniest suggestion of head. Butterscotch, hay and sulphur in the aroma. An unwelcome hint of bile. Taste is better. Agreeably bittersweet with a gentle finish. Medium oily body. A surprisingly pedestrian golden from this brilliant brewery.

Cask at the Euston tap. Pale yellow clear pour with a smooth pure whute head. Aroma is clean pils grains, light citrus spicy hop. Flavour is light grains, straw, tangy grain store crisp in the finish. Hop character is solid citrus and herbal. Clean lager like profile. Palate is crisp, light with low to moderate cask condition. Pretty tasty.

My third and final beer at the Pheasant, Wellington, Shropshire on 14th June 2014: cask half-pint. Slight haze to the dull golden body, a white head. I thought this a little bland, a mild hop citrus note here and there with a light maltiness in places. I can’t get as excited as some do with Thornbridge, beers like this are the reason.
