Cask @ Trades Club, Hebden Bridge. Very dark with a thick creamy off--white head. It’s crisp with light coffee notes in both aroma and taste.

Cask at London Drinker festival 2014, Kings Cross, London. A black coloured pour with a thin off white head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate aroma. Tastes similar, roasty, malty, chocolate, dark fruit in there too.

Bottle from Beeches of Walkley, Sheffield. Deep, reddy brown. Thick, creamy, beige head. Good looker. Aroma is dark, unsweetened fruit. Roasted coffee beans, some licorice, some dark chocolate. Taste is roast bitterness. Hoppy, dry finish. Punches well above its weight.

Medium beige head. Nearly opaque black body goes deep dark brown at edges. Earthy cocoa aroma with prunes notes. Dry-sweet roasty earthy caramel taste with burned notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish earthy floral herbal aftertaste with salty roasty notes. It’s ok, but low on flavor and just not that good. (0.5l bottle, from House of Trembling Madness, York.)

Clear black colour, slight white head. Aroma of chocolate and roasted malts. Quite hoppy flavour, bitter roasted malts, malts, caramel and chocolate. Chocolate finish, light coffee and over-ripe fruits.

Bottle @ WWT II thanks to Deanso. Pitch black color, small beige head. Smell roasted malts, a hint of coffee. Taste malts, roasted malts, bitter, a hint of overripe fruits. Medium body, medium carbonation.

50cl Bottle at WWT II. Almost black colour with a red hue, light-beige head. Aroma of cream, hard roasted malts, cold coffee, fudge. Flavour is bitter, hard roasted malts, coffee and cream, bitter leafy finish with a little coffee. Light-bodied.

Cask at NWAF 2012. Very dark, almost black, with a beige head. Roasty aroma with dark chocolate, dark fruits and a hint of alcohol and spices. Sweet and roasty with a nice and bitter finish. Bitter and slightly citrussy aftertaste. Alcohol is noticable, but quite decent stout. (2013-01-25)

Cask at Merchants Inn Beer Festival, Rugby - 31/10/12. Mid black, dark mahogony brown in the light, with a thin coffee head. Roast malt nose with a good dose of molasses and liqourice. Taste follows nose with light booze, chocolate, treacle toffee and dark malts. Medium body with fine carbonation, smooth leading to a dry finish.
