Cask at NWAF 2009. A dark brown beer with a bubbly tan head. The aroma has notes of both sweet and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of dark chocolate and roasted malt, leading to a dry and roasted finish, where the chocolate note lingers.

Cask @ National Winter Ales Festival 2009, Manchester. Pours a dark reddish brown almost black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty coffee aroma with some hints of chocolate. Roasted malty coffee flavor with some bitter hints. Has a roasted malty coffee fiinish with a long bitter aftertaste.

Cask (gravity) @ The National Winter Ales Festival 2008, Manchester, UK. Clear medium to dark red brown color with a small to average, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, burnt, coffee, moderate hoppy, dust. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - creamy, carbonation is flat. (180108)

(Cask at Market Porter, Southwark, London, 1 Dec 2007) Brownish black colour with frothy pale brown head. Roasted , malty nose with loads of coffee and dark chocolate. Roasted, malty taste with notes of dark fruit, coffee, cocoa and a long, roasted, bitter finish. Powerful stout, full body, balanced sweetness. Excellent beer.

Gravity at Reading BF 5/5/2007. Near black with a beige head. Aroma dominated by roasted notes and dark chocolate. Flavours of coffee, burnt fudge and more chocolate. Finish was long and dry. Good, but I would have expected a bit more from a 6% beer.

Cask gravity at Reading BF 2007. Very dark brown, thin bubbly tan head. Good roasted malt aroma. It’s pretty choccy and decent in the mouth. Lovely choc.
