Flashback Anniversary Ale is an India Brown Ale with 6.8% ABV. This is the first beer we’ve made here that uses one single hop variety (Cascade) in the recipe in five separate additions. The fresh Cascade hop aroma and flavor is perfectly balanced with the dark roasted grains, making Flashback a very unique beer. We’re calling it an India Brown Ale to help illustrate its flavor to the consumer. It’s hoppy like an IPA but dark and roasty like a Brown Ale. Put them together and voila! Flashback at its finest!…

On tap at Capital Ale House - Downtown on 06/15/2009. Clear reddish amber body with a medium frothy tan head. Sweet floral and resiny hop aroma with some light nuttiness. Sweet nutty and light roasty flavor with a bit of floral and citrus notes. Medium full body with moderate carbonation.

Dark mahogany color. Piney, grapefruity nose with some noble hops and brown sugar. Full malty backbone with big hoppy body. Nutty, piney. Aggressive malts and hops, but well balanced. Big piney finish. Enjoyable.

12oz bottle. Deep transparent toffee brown color. Big fluffy, lasting head. Lots of hops in the aroma, with a touch of chocolate. Solid brown sugar sweet malt backbone, fully doused with a thick Cascade bitterness. Certainly one of the better Browns I’ve had in quite some time. Bitter toffee aftertaste. Excellently thick, but never overbearing in body or in alcohol. Great beer, would love to have it on draft.

Bottle. Nice brown ale with lots of hops. The nose is mostly malty, but the flavor is dominated by hop bitterness. Dark brown body with a light brown, fizzy head. Aroma is malty with notes of toffee, caramel, nuts and a hint of burnt malts. Slight hop note of resin. The flavor is moderatley sweet and moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately to heavily bitter. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. The darker malts of the brown ale are restrained enough to keep from clashing or getting in the way of the hops. Nice beer.

12oz bottle–pours a foamy rich tan head that laces and dark copper color. Aroma is medium malt-toffee/chocolate, nutty, earthy, seocndry pine/spice/citrus hops. Taste is medium/dark malt-chocolate, earthy then the herbal hops bite come through. An English character. Medium body. Thanks to Joe-jwc215 for sharing.

Aroma: A nice roasty-hoppy combination to the nose here, you get some chocolate, grain, hops, nuttiness
Appearance: Dark orangish, kind of a nutty color
Flavor: Similar to the nose, its a hoppy beer with lots of roasted malt flavors and the other nose characteristics mixed in
Palate: Relatively full body (medium to full), a bit of a chewiness to it as well
Overall Impression: I've had a few if these India Brown Ales from various brewers now, and I like this style. This one was pretty nice, and definitely worth a taste.

On tap at the Mad Mex in Robinson. Volatile aroma at times. Much more than a brown ale. Strong and rude initially, more like an IPA. Alky is in yer face with barely any carbonation. Looks like pale lager in the glass with a thin creamy head. Long bitter linger after each slug. Way too much personality for this lager lover. Rather rude and crude.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a ruby-brown color with a large dark beige head. The aroma was fruity hops, sweet, malty, nutty an had a touch of cocoa. The flavor was dry, toasty and bitter with noted fruity and floral hops an a touch of coffee and cocoa. The finish was long, dry, fruity, roasty and hoppy. Well done.

Pour is a brown with a small white head. Aroma is a tosty malt with some lemon. Flavor is a heavy dose of caramel malts with some coffee at the end. Hops are not there for this to be a brown hop bomb but they are there in more subtle ways. Its one of those beers that brings out something different at every sip.
