Norðan Kaldi er þriðja tegundin frá Bruggsmiðjunni, og jafnframt fyrsta ölið sem kom frá Kalda .Norðan Kaldi er Amber Öl að breskri fyrirmynd. Gerjaður á tæpum 20 gráðum með ensku Nottingham geri. Humlarnir eru nýsjálenskir Wakatu humlar sem gefa sérstakan og skemmtilega keim af blómum og þurkuðum ávöxtum, fallegi rafbrúni koparliturinn kemur frá tékknesku caramel byggi sem gefur líka keim af karmellu og kandís Gerjunartími er 4-5 vikur. Hann gerjast mjög hratt í byrjun en tekur svo langan tíma að þroskast.

On tap at Micro Bar, pours a cloudy dark orangey brownish amber with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out bready malts and a hint of caramel. Flavour brings out toasted malt and bready notes. Dry and balanced, but clean. Meh.

Biggish pale beige head. Clear brown body with carbonation. Perfumy caramel pudding aroma with fruity notes. Dry-sweet caramelly roasted sugar taste with fruity notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish caramelly wooden aftertaste with roasty sugar notes. Nice, drinkable, pleasant. (0.33l bottle, from Vinbudin Kringlan, Reykjavik.)

Draft at Kaldi Bar. Hazy to cloudy golden amber color, creamy off white head. Aroma of lightly toasted brown bread. Taste is lightly spiced caramel biscuit.

33cl bottle from Vínbúðin somewhere on Iceland. Pours clear caramel coloured to amber with a rather small, off-white head. Fairly malty with notes of caramel, lightly spicy with some fruity notes and hints of dried fruits. Sweet and malty with a noticable bitterness. 330ml Bottle - Dark amber/copper with a foamy head. Caramel, dried fruit and some metallic notes in the aroma. Malt, toffee and sultanas in the taste. Not too bad, but nothing I am in a hurry to buy again.
