Our take on the West Coast-style Double India Pale Ale, The Oracle places hop intensity first and foremost, making only the slightest concession to malt and balance.

The fireworks start with the aromatic punch of dry-hop sessions with hop varieties from the Pacific Northwest. Resinous, citrusy hop flavors mixed with aggressive bitterness from a massive kettle addition deliver on that aromatic promise.

Bottle. Caramel malt and orange peel/pine aroma. Hazy golden yellow with moderate head and nice lacing. Very sweet orange-caramel malt quickly overwhelmed by strong bitter earthy pine and citrus peel flavor. Great - love NZ hops.

Bottle with thanks to cocoapuph for the extra! Pours clear butterscotch with a medium creamy off-white head and nice lacing. Aroma is citrus, pine, passionfruit, some caramel. Flavor is the same, light sweet, quite citrusy, and bitter, bitter and more bitter with a bitter finish. Full body, creamy mouthfeel.

Pours amber-orange with a short, off-white head. Tropical fruit mix aroma. Taste is almost syrupy fruit, strong piney bitter. Very well done, doesn’t venture into clingy sweetness like some DIPA’s.... Nicely balanced....well masked alcohol. Very nice.

Bottle pour to snifter. Not sure if I am missing something. Contrary to the brewer’s description, my palate picks up a malt-dominance . . . in a good way, though. I really enjoyed this. Creamy and smooth on the palate. This drinks like a session beer.

Pretty darn good. Pours a cloudy, pineapple-yellow, with little head. Very floral, fruity aroma. Flavor is intensely bitter, with citrus and fruit, as well as some underlying sweetness. Finish is bitter. Very resinous mouthfeel. Glad I could score a couple of bottles...

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy dark amber color with a huge fluffy white head that lingered forever and left excellent lacing. The aroma was sweet, tart and tangy with strong pine and a bit of caramel and bread. The flavor was very bitter with strong pine and resin, hot peppers and incredibly strong, hot boozy presence that hijacks everything else. The hottest alcohol burn I have encountered. Incredibly long boozy bit with lingering bitterness and pine. Full bodied. Interesting.

Bottle as shown. Pours a cloudy yellow with a small white head. The aroma is floral and pine. Thick mouthfeel with a very dry hop flavor and very bitter finish. Alcohol hidden well, a very good IIPA.

Tap at the Brentwood Tavern, New Buffalo - 03/11/12. Clear mid amber with a good white head. Nose of orange, pine, hops, caramel malt, bitter grapefruit. Taste follows - juicy pine and bitter tropical fruits. Medium bodied, smooth feel, bitter finish. Great DIPA.

Tap @ Town Hall Tap Minneapolis. Pours a bit hazy, yellowish orange appearance with a creamy, white head. Rich, piney, quite potent, lightly dank, grapefruity, intense aroma. Quite smooth, lightly citrusy, rich piney, herbal hoppy flavor with some citrus that’s fairly bitter with no sign of booze. I love you. Mild to moderate fuck yeah.
