Alaskan Baltic Porter is a deep, dense beer with an intricate array of aromas and flavors derived from substantial amounts of specialty malts, dark black cherries and whole gourmet vanilla beans. In order for the British to export their dark ales to the northern ports of the Baltic Sea, they were brewed stronger than normal to endure the long voyage. The extra warmth was welcomed in these countries with harsh winters and a taste for the robust, attributes that also fare well in Alaska.

Bottle: Dark brown with a thin tan head. Fruity and sweet aroma. Malty and chocolate with a vanilla element. Tastes malty and roasty with the fruity notes and vanilla real easing into a mellow barrel aged taste. Even a bit of toasted marshmellow... A delicious dessert beer. Thanks Matt!

courtesy of googzoid10. Thanks for yet another awesome beer and trade. This is one complex beer that will certainly become huge with age. Every single sip invited one to discover more and more goodness. Pours dark brown with brownish head and light yellow lacing. Aroma offers a smooth nose with good fruits and malts with light smoke and wood. Taste is just pure goodness. Notes of vanilla, dark fruits - dark cherry, raisin -, smooth mouthfeel with roasted malts. Some spices, and a light hoppy finish. There is a strong feel that the beer had some good light smoke and bourbon in it, and all make for one amazing and savoring beer.

Courtesy of sebletitje, thanks Sebastian. Pours deep brown with copper edges and thin mocha head. The aroma is at first very full with notes of rich dark fruitiness like Concord grape jam, prunes and cherries to go along with a bit of molasses and a light amount of wood like smokiness. The taste is very nice and bold. It starts with wood and a bit of smoke and then sweet molasses, toffee, vanilla and those notes are moving into rich dark fruitiness. Each of these flavors seem to mix together to create a near sweet bourbon sensation. Is this bourbon barrel aged? Very smooth and rich tasting brew.

Bomber from Liquid Solutions. Very dark ruby brown color with a decent tan head. Aromas of vanilla, darker fruits and roasted malt. Chocolate as glass approaches lip. Near full body with creamy carbonation. Bit of heat. Very roasted malt. Some light chocolate. It is a bit like chocolate and cherry - like a liqueur without the sugar. Finishes rather dry than sweet. Quite delicious.
