Hop Project #34 was bottled third week of August. For this batch, we decided to feature a hop we have never used before, Sorachi Ace. We used Warrior hops at the beginning of the boil, and then the Sorachi Ace at 45 min, 5 min, and dry hopped in the fermenter.

Bottle courtesy of butters on 01/15/2011 at the 13th Richmond Gathering. Clear golden amber body with a small frothy white head. Sweet sorachi ace aroma with some caramel. Dry sorachi ace flavor, some citrus notes and a caramel background. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of Butters. Thanks! Pours a hazy copper with a thin head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of lemony citrus hops, caramel, floral hops. The taste is very bitter hops... resiny, citrus but mostly just intensely bitter. Some toasty malts. Medium bodied.

Bottled. A hazy dark golden beer with a thin lazing yellowish head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and flowery hops. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of flowery hops on a malty background, leading to a very bitter finish.

Bottle 12fl.oz.Unclear medium amber orange color with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to light light heavy hoppy, warm orange - citrus, black pepper. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, acrid bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20101102]

12 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is fruity, vegetable and peachy. Smooth citrusy and peachy. Crisp hoppy fruity. Peachy and distinct citrusy into a dry and mild bitter finish.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of Sean9689. Pours a hazy amber with a lacing off-white head. Sweet and exotic hop aroma. Medium body, fruity and somewhat dusty, quite dry with and astringent hoppiness leaving quite some bitterness. Again some lovely exotic touches from the great Sorachi Ace hops. 021110

Big thanks to jcwattsrugger for giving me a bottle of this. 12oz-er pours copper with impressive multi hued tan head. The aroma is full and yummy and fresh with flower pedals, perfumy earl grey tea, fir tree, fresh shrub clippings and spruce. Very cool aroma. The taste is loaded with off center IPA hops delivering yummy hop flavor and modest hop bitterness to my eager palate. I get flower pedals, spruce, some spicy hops, fresh cut wet grass tasting aromatics, a mild level of malts and caramel. Very yummy mix of non traditional IPA hops. Well done!

Thanks decaturstevo-12oz bottle-pours a foamy to funky/patchy off white head and hazy gold/orange color. Aroma is orange zest/tangerine. Taste is fermented orange/herbal hops, medium malt with burnt sugars. Interesting.
