Cask at the Fish Hotel, Buttermere. Chestnut-hued with a cream-coloured head. Caramel at first with a blackcurrant fruitiness coming through. Not bad- I do prefer darker-hued bitters like this; far too many bitters are too pale these days.

Clear amber beer with a thick frothy head. Aroma is light malt. Flavour is malt, a touch of caramel and light bitter hop. It’s nothing special but it’s decent enough.

Thanks to Sean (Seanyfo) for this bottle! Dark nutbrown colour. The smell is toffee, roasted malt. The beer starts mild, a bit roasted. Nice. Hazelnuts, toffee, bitterness that gets more intense to the end. The beer is not too intense, but not watery. The aftertaste is long, bitter-malty, dark chocolate, nuts, dry. --> Nice bitter, but I miss the typical notes of a traditional bitter ale. --> 11/12/10/10
