Autumn Brown Ale
Sierra Nevada uses malt within days of roasting at the peak of its flavor to give Tumbler a gracefully smooth malt character. Two-row pale, crystal 40, chocolate and smoked malts give it a malty complexity. Challenger hops in the boil add balancing bitterness, while more Challengers and some Goldings give just enough hop flavor in the finish to balance all that malt.

Purchased at Breeze Thru Wine & Sprits in Milwaukee, WI; enjoyed after a long challenging work day lounging at home. Appearance is a dark muddy brown with a thin pure white head that laces to the glass. Aroma of rich caramel malt, sweetness, moderate hop presence, roasted malt, rather complex but also simplistic. Taste has more of a roasted malt character with a moderate bitterness, tastes kind of like fall I guess so the label does the brew justice. Also a bit chewy. Pretty good stuff, another solid Sierra Nevada brew.

Pours clear brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, oatmeal, chocolate and floral hops. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Clear red brown beer, small light beige head, unstable, little adhesive. Aroma: malt, bready, toast, chestnuts (might me my mind playing tricks on me), earthy, some caramel, overripe fruits and banana peel. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: toast, caramel, little sweet, some mocha, quite some chocolate, pretty bitter, citrus touch. Aftertaste: dark chocolate, very malty, toast, bread, little bitter with a fruity touch. Nicely done.

Brown color, cloudy, with frothy head. Moderate aroma of roasted malt and some cheese. Weak mouthfeel, with moderate roasted malt and chocolate flavor, paper and cardboard. Dry. Far from exciting.

Bottle: Deep chestnut-amber coloured, bigger stable off-white head with a good lace, fruity - the english way - and bready toasty nose; bitter-sweet flavour with a light acidity, light to medium bodied, quite soft; slightly lingering mild fruity toasty-caramelly finish. Quite good, but "weak" by S.N. standards…

Bottle from bierzwerg.de. Dark brown color with beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, hints of coffee. Taste, roasted malt, almonds, dark chocolate, caramel, light bitterness. Coffee bitter finish. Good.

355ml bottle, Pours chestnut brown with a red hue. Gentle carbonation with a nicely proportioned head. The nose has gravy and chicken and smokey bacon crisps. The taste has more of the savoury stuff. The palate is medium bodied and smokey texture and fairly clean. Overall, interesting.
