Golden amber in colour with citrus and some floral hop aromas. Toffee sweetness and citrus fruit flavours are balanced by a floral and earthy hop contribution, with a long dry satisfying bitter finish.

Cask, Duchess of Kent, Islington. Golden looks with a smallish off white head. Aroma was on the restrained side and had notes of fragrant hop and citrus. Flavour had similar traits in addition to biscuity malts. Dryish bitter finish. Pefectly drinkable but lacking any real va va voom, as a certain charcter who used to haunt these parts might have said.

(Cask at Southampton Arms) For an English pale ale this was maltier and hoppier that usual examples are. I enjoyed drinking this. I found this quite balanced and drinkability was good. Aftertaste lingered in my mouth quite long.

Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 16th August 2010. Clear slightly hazy amber with off white foam head affording a little frothy lacing. Hops rounded by biscuit malts in aroma, excellently hoppy main taste in which the grassy notes hit the back of the mouth. Herby kick. Very bitter, long lasting, satisfying finish. Textured mouthfeel. Very pleasant session ale.
