Cains FA is no small beer: despite its deceptively pale golden colour, it boasts a big, smooth flavour and strong punch. Brewed with the finest English malts, and conditioned in cask with dry hops to produce fresh hop aromas and a fuller flavour, delighting the mouth and stimulating the tongue.

(Cask at Dr Duncan’s, Liverpool, 26 July) Copper colour with little head. Nose is fruity with grapefruit and lemon, slightly lactic butterscotch aroma. Hm? Nose is fruity with citrus (lemon, grapefruit), rather short citrussy finish. A bit unbalanced but fairly ok taste, probably not in its best shape.

Cask handpull at Doctor Duncan’s, Liverpool. 5.0% drunk whilst sat in the Victorian tiled room overlooking the neo-classical magnificence that is St George’s Hall and the Central library. Golden with lasting white head. A well rounded Eglish golden strong ale. Slighty perfumed hop aroma. Full in mouth, slightly creamy. Syrupy fruit which underlies the pale malts. Satisfying and well made

Bright amber; very earthy - both malt and hops; more caramel than others from this brewery, still fruity though.
