Bottle at Banchory Lodge Hotel. Dark brown body with a beige head that quickly fades. No lacing. Aroma of ashy malt, liquorice and treacle. Flavour of dark chocolate, roasted malt and coffee. Thin body with a watery texture. Light fizz. Quite tasty, but lacking the body and richness of the better Stouts I’ve tried.

Many thanks to Sean for this bottle! Very smooth and intense beginning. Creamy, easy to drink but still deep. Smooth and soft with a great chocolate bitterness. The aftertaste is smooth, milk chocolate, fresh and easy to drink! Great!!

500ml bottle shared with Ash - Cheers! Pours black with a thin tan head. Aromas of coffee and dark chocolate. Taste is more coffee, not enough chocolate or lactic sweetness going on for me. Best of theirs tried today though.

50cl bottle from the brewery. Appearance - opaque black with a decent creamy head. Nose - dark chocolate and a hint of coffee. Taste - coffee and dark chocolate. Tiramasu. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly elegant finish. Overall - a decent stout. The best from the range.

On gravity at the Gryphon, Bristol. Near black with a sight, off-white head. Sweet, black treacle and chocolate aroma, with plenty of toasted malts. Flavour had more sweetness, alongside black coffee, some liquorice and a touch of dried fruit, before a lingering, dry finish. Good.

Bottle on the train from Edinburgh (thanks to an IP trade with Craig Garvie) - 08/12/12. Mid black with a thin tan head that escapes to the edge and leaves a film. Nose is dark roast malt, touch of chocolate, dark toffee notes, dark sugars. Taste comprises roast malts, liqourice, mineral tones, pinch of chcocolate, touch of molasses. Medium bodied with soft carbonation leading to a dry finish. Decent.

Pours with a thick, brown head. A malt/chocolate aroma and the taste is similar with a (obviously) strong chocolate taste. Surprisingly light, crisp finish makes for a very drinkable stout.
