Definitely has a bit of barleywine character. Mildly spiced, finishes a little bitter, and FAR too carbonated.

Gravicask, one-third pint, shared with Finn at GBBF Winter '23. Next-to-clear amber body, fair lacing from a filmy layer. Rather sweet smell of dried fruit and mid-sweet malts. Caramel, earth, and dried fruity flavours. Mid-sweet malty-fruit ending. Well bodied. Pretty good. (Burton upon Trent, 16.02.2023).

Gravity cask at the GBBF Winter 2023 Festival, day 2 at Burton On Trent Town Hall, 17/02/23. Chestnut brown with a beige cap. Nose is fruit slice, caramel, dates, brown sugar dusting, nutty. Taste comprises dried fruit esters, toffee, light spice, biscuit, grains. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with a light kiss of booze. Not bad.

Cask at the great British winter beer festival. A clear nut brown coloured pour with a lasting loose off white head. Aroma is dried fruits, plum, earthy malts, nutty. Flavour is composed of semi sweet layered malts, toast, nutty, dried fruit cake... Palate is semi sweet, rounded,, good cask condition. Good.

Cask at Standing Order, Derby. Pours a dark burgundy with a small off-white head and good lacing. There are complex aroma of dark fruits, cake and toffee, all diffused with alcohol. In the mouth there is briefly some sweetness before alcoholic strength overrides it, with dark fruits and spices. Traces of malts and leather too, but on the whole a little watery. Finish is spicy and boozy. This is rather nice – and not expensive either ! (Only £2.29 a pint).
