Hand pulled half pint in the Stag & Scotch, Newport, Shropshire on 16th June 2025. Almost black with a beige crown, moody looking thing. Malty in nature with chocolate and coffee flavours too the fore. Nice!

Dark and inky. Foamy beige head. Aroma has polite mocha and berries. Flavourwise the spur coffee berries dominate, with a coffee edge. Medium bodied. Oily. Soft-average carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Enjoyable characterful Porter.

Cask at Pothole, Allestree Pours a very dark brown with a small beige head. Nose is a mix of chocolate and brazil nuts. In the mouth there is sweetness of milk chocolate plus the tang of dark fruits. Starts of as watery but by the end there is a rich malty body. Finish is milky and malty. Easy drinking and likeable.

Fra fat på Greyhound i Derby 16 Feb 16. Ultramørk amber. Lysebrunt skum. God, lett røstet aroma. Smaken røstet malt. Litt sjokolade. Tørr etter hvert. Veldig bra for styrken!

Cask @ The Old Harkers, Chester [270115]
Dark caramel brown, rather light for a porter, oatmeal white head
Aroma of mellow roast, touch of chocolate, soft cereal, soft dark malts, very light nose
Taste of soft sweet dark malts, mellow roast, malty, little hop, simple malts, touch of dark fruits, dab of dark chocolate, little lacking in depth
Palate - Medium body, soft sweet, smooth. Finish as main flavour.
Overall - Fairly malty beer, not bad at all

One-third pint glass from a sample tray, tap at the brewpub. Jet black body, fawn-coloured head. Roasted dark malty smell. Mild chocolate taste with underlying hints of yeast. Roasted endnotes. Not in its best shape, perhaps (Derby 22.02.2015).
