Cask at the Pendle Witch, Lancaster, 01/03/15. Clear golden with a decent off white cap that retains well. Nose carries light strains of Burton snatch, bread dough, grain, malt. Taste comprises straw, grain, pale malt, bread, light citric. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, light bitterness in the close. So so, looks and feels good but doesn’t deliver much at the business end.

Cask at Champion of the Thames, Cambridge. Mid-gold with a bit of white head and decent lacing. Pear drops, caramel, elderflower and candyfloss in the aroma. Sweet, juicy taste with a medium finish and a lip-smacking fruity caramel aftertaste. This beer seems to divide opinion but I like it. A by-the-numbers English golden ale. But a damn good one.

Hand-pulled half-pint at The Stafford Cricket and Hockey Club on 28th June 2014. Clear, light golden pour with a full white crown. Mildly maltier aroma than hop notes. The taste is also leaning slightly towards light malts with a mini citrus hop presence towards the finish. Medium bodied and easy to drink.

Bottle. Golden with a frothy head. Has a very drinkable pale ale texture with a small dry hopped aroma that includes light fruits - these are evident in its taste too.
