Bottle at home ... Deep copper ... sweet malt ... nice rounded warming fruit malt with a light hoppyness ... some caramel in background ... little alcohol showing... but still very nice.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel and light notes of raisins. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel, leading to a dry and slightly bitter finish.

Bottle courtesy of my dad and Booths Poured dark amber, alcohol noticeable on the aroma and then zaps you straight away in the mouth, quite sweet bit malty but basically a bit too unrefined and shambolic for me.

500ml bottle from Booths. Some hop/yeast on aroma. Nutty yeast. It’s a wide tasting strong English beer. It’s a lovely nutty, slightly syrupy English strong ale. Decent hop on finish, some good toffeeish red fruits in mouth. Whatever this is style wise, it’s not a lager. It’s like a souped up ESB. Very smooth in mouth, bit of harsh alcohol/hop on finish. It’s not German, nor like any bock I’ve had. So let’s forget that style argument. Is the beer any good? Would I have it again? Yes, on cask. In bottle? Depends what else is on offer, but yes I would buy it again.
