Bottled (PBF, red bottle, vintage 2008)
Hazy yellow color, small white head. Wheaty, a bit citrusy and strong alcohol. Sweet, toffee-honeyish, wheaty-banana flavor. Short finish. 17 euros for this?

Bottled. Hazy straw colour, no head. Some cardboard and Belgian style yeastiness up front. Sweet and fruity with above medium body and clean mouthfeel. Marzipan and sorghum joins later. Quite peculiar.

10/01 That same 0.75 l bottle, thanks ogivlado for sharing! It poured slightly murky golden body with medium sized white head. A bit winy aroma, slightly champagne or cidery with some hints of honey malt besides. Flavor has beer & wine characteristics as well, shows some flowery and honey malts, a bit lemony or other citrus hops, somewhat spiced (elder flowers?) with grape acidity of a white wine. Long finish, but despite relatively complex flavor, this was simple and boring. Interesting thing, but I didn’t like it, specially as I think it’s not worth so much.

rosé champagne bottle (750ml). -from Julius Meinl in Vienna. Bottle No. 12087
Yellow coloured, minimal white head, lively carbonation, white wine nose. Stale sparkling white wine taste with notes of apple, pineapple and honey. Touch of alcohol in the finish, but all in all very insubstantial price (18.90€) for what’s offered. Vintage 2008.

Rating no. 1100. 0.75l bottle, Jahrgang 2008, 12087, courtesy of ogivlado (thanks!) who shared it with me and heavy. Medium sized white head that went away fast, perching on top of a hazy darker yellow body. The nose was already a letdown, with a fine, fruity sweet maltiness only showing up from time to time, the rest being a sourish white wine-like aroma. The taste is certainly smooth, with some fruity and honeyish maltiness showing up, with some pollen and definitely pear too. It’s stale however, with the acidic white wine notes, which made this feel like barrel aged (if it was so, it certainly wasn’t a good idea), ruined this a little. The taste just isn’t good. An interesting experiment, but for 20 Euros a bottle, one would expect at least a good beer and this unfortunately isn’t one.

75 cL bottle, 04933, courtesy of renffisch. Pours hazy yellow and a bubly white head. Dense alcoholic and phenolic aroma. Smooth and caramel malty flavoured with a mild yeasty note. Lingering yeasty and malty finish. Smooth yet not really good.

Vintage 2008 Little head on pale golden beer. Cidery, nearly fruity white wine nose - unheard of! Sweet-sour beer, unfortunately a bit Babycham-like, (an impression that can only be reinforced by the saucy bottle). Gradually the little sourishness gets indeed a pear-like aroma, certainly retronasal. It’s probably the wheat, but it certainly has no wheat-character, no bananaester, no cloves. Light body despite the ABV, Champenoise carbonation. Not realy convincing IMO, but it depends maybe on what the target group for this beer is...
