Draught at Sct. Clemens. Creamy dark off-white head. Mostly lasting. Cloudy very dark brown colour. Moderate malty light hoppy andsoapy aroma. Very roasted moderate bitter flavor. Week nice licorice notes. Oily palate but a little too fizzy.

(On tap) Clear, warm reddish brown with a neat and creamy beige head leaving quite some lacework. Sweetish aroma of fruit and roasted malt - and a slight whiff of butter. Medium body with a soft mouthfeel, distinct accents of hard roasted malts and a bitterness that I reckon mainly derives from the hops. A little too fruity to be a real Schwarzbier. But plenty of Apollo house character - whatever that is.... 090608

Draft. A dark red-brown beer with a thin lazing tan head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with notes strong notes of caramel as well as lighter touches of roasted malt, which lends it a slight acidity and a citrusy notes - is it the hops? The finish it dry, bitter, and roasted. Not as sweet as an original German Schwarz bier. The best beer from Apollo in a long time.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown to black, has a deep redish glare, with a dense light tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, caramel and the classic Apollo diacetyl house character. Flavour shows a more hardroasted malt flavour than what the aroma promised. Light spiced hops bitterness into the finish with a minor liqourice note. Nicely roasted and with a good bitterness into the finish. Nice schwarzbier!

2011 version: Good portion of bitterness mixed with a solid roasted to light liqourice flavour. Bitter and solid dry finish.
