In order to establish this mead we have combined the traditional brew with dried hibiscus. In addition to the color this spice adds an aromatic and floral aftertaste to this mead, like a good madeira.

On tap at Belmont Station, pours a clear golden, no head. Aroma brings out lots of mulled wine, nectar and alcohol. Flavour is intensely sweet, with intense honey, nectar and alcohol. Both the sweetness and alcohol are intensely high, and bordering cloying, but it's a pleasure to drink such luxury.

750ml ceramic bottle at the December 2017 DC area cider tasting, thanks to DCLawyer for bringing this beast to the party. This one poured a kind of velvet-dark yellow color, totally still. Aroma was light boozy sweet honey notes, light smoke character hidden in there. Flavor was smooth sweetness, smoky. This was really drinkable for for 19%.

From a bottle at the RB cider tasting December 2016. Pours a clear copper no head. Boozy aroma. Heavy sweet flavors with some spice. A bit overbearing.

Aroma is apples honey and spices. Appearances a clear medium dark amber. Flavor is honey spices and a hint of patchouli, which I detest.

Sampled on draft this mead poured a dark brown color with no head and no lacing. The aroma was sweet, woody, smoky and medicinal. The flavor was sweet with a strong medicinal presence, band aid, tobacco, smoke, honey and vague alcohol. Long finish. Full body. The alcohol burn grows and overwhelms.
