In order to establish this mead we have combined the traditional brew with dried hibiscus. In addition to the color this spice adds an aromatic and floral aftertaste to this mead, like a good madeira.

Aroma is apples honey and spices. Appearances a clear medium dark amber. Flavor is honey spices and a hint of patchouli, which I detest.

Sampled on draft this mead poured a dark brown color with no head and no lacing. The aroma was sweet, woody, smoky and medicinal. The flavor was sweet with a strong medicinal presence, band aid, tobacco, smoke, honey and vague alcohol. Long finish. Full body. The alcohol burn grows and overwhelms.

Sample at Winking Lizard. This Mead is a slightly hazy straw color with a minimal head and decent legs. Floral aroma with sweet honey and a bit of fruit. Full-bodied and sweet with flavors of honey, hibiscus and slight fruit hops. The finish is sweet and floral with a hibiscus and fruit aftertaste. Above average overall.

No head. Clear deep coppery body. Fruity alcoholic raisiny aroma with spicy cedar wood notes. Sweet fruity spicy alcoholic taste with cedar wood notes. Fullish body. Hot, spicy, flat mouthfeel. Sweetish spicy hot alcoholic aftertaste with wooden herbal notes. Long cedar wood finish. Interesting, unusual. Highly sippable, in spite of all the alcohol. (0.5l ceramic bottle, from Kihoskh, Copenhagen, a few years back.)

Bottle. Pours a clear amber with no head whatsoever. Aroma is full of dry earthy honey with a bit of earthy hibiscus underlying as well. Flavor is full of sweet honey with a decent amount of booze and a pretty strong earthy hibiscus note.

On cask at Belmont Station. Haha with a Viking helmet on the cask. Pours a clear ruby color with obviously no head. The aroma is heavy herbal and sugary, heat is all over. The flavor has a sugary honey base and some interesting floral notes, but for me the main flavor was hot alcohol, burning, chemical like cheap vodka. Lots to like, but not for me.

Clear deep golden with no head. Yeah surprise surprise. Fruity, flowery, honey and alcohol in both aroma and flavor. Decent mead if you ask me.
