Luvanium Blond is a beer full of tradition, inspired by the famous 18th century Leuven beer that was immensely popular in the low countries. Due to its exceptional taste, the beer was called the king of all drinks throughout the Austrian Netherlands.

Mild gusher. Pours clear blonde, OK white head. Smell is intense, dry grainy, has some aspects of a lager, almost. Taste is rather weak. Some grain notes, some hints of sweetness. Notes of bitterness. Rather blank, unintense, and weak. Given the ABV, this should be way... intenser? better? This is almost like a lager, but high vs low fermentation. The mf is average, and carbo is to the high side. Looks like they attempted to brew a lager-like drinkable ale. Not sure where that would fit in the commercial market these days...

Bottle from Belgian Beer Shop, Leuven. Hazy yellow colour, white foam. Yeasty profile. Citrussy with spicy notes. Bit unbalanced, not easy drinkable. Bitter aftertaste. Meh.

Sampled from bottle @ Tim needs to get rid of his ticks tasting. Clear golden color, small white head. Smell and taste malts, a bit yeasty, slightly sweetish. Nothing special, nothing wrong with it. Meh.

Medium to good, lightly yellowish head; fine, medium carbonation in clear golden beer. Very spicy nose, probably yeast, but reminding of (not necessarily comestible) garden weeds; some sweet, pale malts, potatopeel. Simple esters, mainly sweet, some banana, typical yeastfeatures. Finish offers some rather dullish bitterness, and some sparkle from the carbonation. Again spiced yeast, mainly; white candi sugar. Sparkling MF, medium body. One question. Why?

33 cl. bottle sampled @ Bierfestival Mechelen 2014. Friendly stand owner, nice back-story. I wanted to like this one but this one tasted too modern, dull etc. for me. Sparkling light hazy golden, white bubbles. Sweet white sugar nose with bitter esters, banana, typical,… Taste is boozy white sugar, esters, light plastic, banana, yeast,… Run of the mill estery boozy blond BE brew, at least this was not of the overly yeasty variety. Clean & decently brewed, Anders knows their stuff. Boozy blond body.

First beer from De Vaart made at Anders for the cafés in Leuven. A ’tarwetripel’, so to speak, with off-white, sticky, moussy head and hazy orange blonde colour. Aroma of wheat, apple, banana, orange, honey, vanilla; fruity taste, some banana and orange, sweetish, refreshing, smooth, malt sweety middle with spicy notes, minerals, mild grassy hops in the finish. Quite okay but nothing exceptional.
