Brouwhuys de Vaart was founded by Bart Luts in 2014. Luvanium (or Lovanium or Loven) was the name by which Leuven was first mentioned in 884 and has two possible explanations: "swamp in the forest" or "fast water" due to a fast-flowing stream south of the current city.
