The bottle looks simple, but good. The beer in the glass dark brown, not black. Starts malty and dry, a little bit alcoholic. Woody-scratchy. Finish well balanced, still dry, soft notes of caramel. Nice!

Bottle 500ml.Clear medium amber color with a average, frothy, good - fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, caramel, sugar. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100624]

50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty, slight breadish. Sweet, caramelish, breadish and roasted. Light herbal and dry bitter. Dry bitter finish with a roasted malt note.

Bottle: Clear, reddish-amber coloured, medium sized - slowly collapsing - tanned loose head; light to moderate sweet caramelly nose with a distinctive touch of dried fruits; solid sweet-bitter flavour, medium to full bodied; moderate to solid lingering sweet (fruity-caramelly) and also bitter finish. Quite well balanced Doppelbock.......

(bottle) Clear, amber to brown colour with a medium-sized tanned foamy head. Sweet toast-malty and slightly molassy aroma with notes of caramel, bread crusts, subtle dried fruits and a tinge of alcohol. Sweet and roasty bitter flavour, full bodied with a calm carbonation. Toast-malty, slightly buttery taste with caramel and crusty notes, accompanied by delicate herbal spices; almost medium-dry, sweet bitter toasty finish with light herbal spices and tinge of warming alcohol. A fine and quite deceptive Doppelbock. 09.I.10
