Cask at the Masons Arms, Solihull. Poured a murky dark brown with a frothy light tan head and loads of lace. The aroma is roasted malt and liqourice. The flavour is light bitter with a watery malt hop bitter palate and a short bitter finish. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation. A decent session ale.

Cask at Haymarket Bar, and previously somewhere in Keswick. I remember it well, one of the best milds I’ve ever had. Near black pour, nice tan head & lacing. Lots of roasted malt notes, light coffee. Smooth taste, and surprisingly full-bodied for the strength. Roasted bitter finish. A lovely, well-made mild.

Cask @ The Bonny Inn, Clayton Le Dale. Very dark red with a small head. Fairly crisp but only a smidge of roasted malts amongst an otherwise sweetness.

Dunkelmaziger Geruch. Der Antrunk ist mild-malzig, angenehm mild, recht süffig. Man merkt den geringen Alkoholgehalt. Aber durch die angenehm-malzige Note wirkt das Bier trotzdem nicht wässrig. Sehr toll. Der Nachgeschmack ist röstmalzig-schokoladig, dabei angenehm herb. Röstmalzig-herbe Töne bleiben lange auf der Zunge. --> Für die 3.9% richtig toll! --> 13/12/13/13 --- Beer merged from original tick of Dark Mild / Dark (Filtered) on 29 Jul 2021 at 20:21 - Score: 7. Original review text: Thousand thanks Simon. Fantastic mild smooth beginning. Caramel, hints of roast. easy to drink, very soft and creamy. Long malty soft creamy dry caramelly aftertaste, great stuff.

Bottle from Tesco. Colour is black with reasonable full grey-tan head. Aroma is of nuts of course, with some smoke and liquorice notes. A bit metallic. Taste is exquisitely complex, sweet mostly but slightly bitter.

Bottle from Tesco’s. Poured a cloudy murky dark brown with a thin bubbly tan head. The aroma is weak roasted malt. The flavour is medium bitter, nutty and with roasted malt. The bitterness lingers for a while in the finish for a very refreshing beer.

50cl bottle courtesy of and shared with jmgreenuk. Thick creamy off white head. Clear deep burgundy pour. Nice brew. Earlier Rating: 4/1/2013 Total Score: 3.250cl bottle. Thick creamy tan head. Clear black pour. A nice brew. I never drunk milds 20 years ago as they were almost extinct when I started drinking. I’m glad the style is making a comeback due to Camra. A nice session beer. --- Beer merged from original tick of Dark Mild / Dark (Filtered) on 18 Apr 2017 at 10:23 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 5 | Flavor - 5 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 5.
