Black-labelled, not pasteurised with live yeast. One in dozens of white-labelled Very Nutty Black bottles @ Tesco Exmouth. Deep brown, almost black colour, small foamy beige head. Light-bodied, lots of roasted malts, coffee, bitter chocolate. Very dark indeed.

500ml bottle - pours black (surprise) with a thin tan head. Very little aroma, a bit oatmeal, a bit cereal, nothing too dramatic. Relatively smooth mouth feel, and clean taste for a mild. Afterwards, nothing unpleasant. I’m not a fan of milds, but this wasn’t bad.

Bottle conditioned 500ml worth of beer poured into a UK sleeve. Good looking brew, dark and with a huge foaming tan coloured head. Mildly coffee and malty molasses in the smell and taste with a soft feel to the overall flavours. Not had a good mild for a while, this has reminded me how good they can be.

Bottle (@ room temperature). Pours reddish black with foamy off-white head. Aroma is malt, fresh green grapes, lemon and hints of horse stable. Taste is medium bitter and light sour. Body is light oily with good carbonation. Finish is medium long with notes of fruit.

Sheffield. Hazy deep brown with a smallish brown head. Aroma of sweet malt and nuts, unfortunately with the presence of an unpleasant cooked veggie odour The flavor isa bit better, sweet and nutty malty some roasted noted, but again a bad veggie note.

Bottle at home in London. Pours rich, red-brown with a big, clingy, light beige head. Aroma holds earth, light dark fruits, rocks. Flavor is lightly sweet and somewhat bland. Very light toast and roast, some sugar, bread. Light bodied with high, massaging carbonation. Slight minerals in the finish, very modest roast, some chalk, faint earthy bitterness, bare hints of cocoa. The lack of character is impressive. Still, easy drinking

Bottled. Deep rubyish brown, close to black colour with a small beige head. Aroma is liquorice, some caramel malts, mild roasted malts, rather rich on toffee and also shows some mild chocolaty notes. Flavour is chocolate, roasted malts, mild liquorice and some dark fruityness. Also the toffeeish notes show up in the flavour as the beer gets a bit warmer.

Mild malziger Antrunk mit nussig-schokoladigen Nuancen, die aber schnell von der Herbe zur Seite geschoben werden. Dann milder, fad, die Aromen erholen sich leider nicht mehr, daher bleibt das Bier nun langweilig. Guter Beginn, schlechte Fortsetzung. 8/6/7/5/8/5

A dark mahoganny brown ale with a thin dark moka head. In aroma, very nice caramel overlayed with moka coffee and light creamy vanilla. In mouth, a soft sweet nutty malt with light coffee notes, a bit lighter than expected but very quaffable. Bottle from MLCC on Pembina Highway.
