Wheat beer has always been known as an elixir or tonic; especially when unfiltered with the brewer’s yeast still in the bottle. Organic Wheat Beer is golden, fruity – the naturally occurring fruit esters from the yeast give prominent citrus and banana flavours – and thirst quenching.

Pint on tap at Chandos. Appearance is very hazy, yellowy golden, a small bubbly white head. Aromas of spice, wheat, fruit, oranges and lemons. Taste is smooth and quite creamy, hop bitterness in the background, spices, quite a bit of fruit and zest. Nice.

On tap at The Chandos. Hazy gold lasting white head. Served in a cool half pint weizen glass. Estery aroma. Decent quite light wheat beer with a touch of clove spice and a little sweet peach flavour. Yes decent enough if a little bit spicy amd sweet for me. Some hop dryness on the finish.

Pints at the white horse in Soho. Cloudy oranage pour with a fine white head. Aroma is tangy oranage marmelade and bready wheat. Palate is a little glabby but all in all this is a very tasty beer.

Keg @ Doo’cot, Edinburgh [240613]
Golden yellow, soft white haze, quite dense bubbly white head
Aroma of banana, soft spicy aromatic, soft wheat, slight sourness
Taste of pale sweet malts, some orange, dab of coriander, bubble gum, soft fruits - apricot and orange
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, quite waxy texture. Fairly sweet palate, slightly sour. Finish as main flavour, soft fruity apricot finish
Overall - I’m not sure about this, seems to be approaching a Belgian Wit. It’s OK but not one of their best beers.

On tap at the Captain Kidd, Wapping 26/01/10. Deep, slightly cloudy gold with a decent white head. A pretty good effort at a German wheat beer, if a bit on the thin side. Had plenty of grainy malts, yeast and bananas.
