Mystic Bridge India Pale Ale
A mild earthy IPA with hints of grapefruit citrus
6.0 % ABV 43 IBU 8.5 SRM
This pale amber colored New England style IPA was inspired by one of the most recognizable landmarks in CT, the 1920 bascule bridge in Mystic, down the river from our brewery. It is a well balanced, mild earthy brew with hints of grapefruit citrus. The Centennial and Cascade hops are flavorful without being bitter and the CaraMalt gives it its sweetness. Great with: strong, spicy food; bold, sweet deserts.

0.33L bottle, medium stable off white head, a touch hazy dark copper date colour. aroma of aprioct, melon and some herbs, flavour of pine and herb shrubs with some hints of mandarine and light bready backbone, strong and mellow sourness and a long bitter sour aftertaste. Very good IPA.

Bottle. Beer of the Month club. Slightly hazy deep amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma of citrus, pine needles, tropical fruits, caramelly malt and cookies. Flavor starts sweet with some caramel and biscuits and fruity notes and continues to a bitter hoppy finish with some pine and grapefruit. Medium-bodied. A decent IPA.

From my beer club. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy orange-amber color with a medium sized foamy orange white head. The aroma was moderately bitter fruity and floral hops. The flavor was dry and nutty with a hint of caramel and vague bitter fruity hops. The finish was long, dry and floral. Medium body. Ok.

Bottle at Chris’ Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia tasting. Apricot fudge aroma. Aye, it’s way too sweet, some hop sting on finish. Very toffee/fudge. Harsh hop, rather than aromatic.

22nd May 2010. ChrisOs ’Blue Ridge Mountains Of Virginia’ tasting! Clear amber beer. Surprising (for the style) caramel malt nose. Light soft palate - dry. Caramel, minerals and a litte grapefruit hop. Seems to malty to be an IPA, odd but ok.

Bottle 12fl.oz. @ chrisos Back In The UK Tasting.Clear medium orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toffee, light butter, moderate hoppy, citrus - orange. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to light light heavy bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100522]

Bottle at Chris O’s. Amber pour with a white head. Caramel, toffee, pine and buttery nose. Caramel, cloves and butterscotch flavours. Very malty. Hops and malts in the finish.

Got it cheap for 8 bucks. Pours a pretty nice looking, frothy, big head over an amber color. Aroma not all that impressive, we got mostly malts (bready maybe), along with very slightly floral hops. Taste itself is pretty good, with moderate amount of hops and a lingering, but not overwhelming finish. A tad on the watery side. On the bitter side of things definitely. A rather standard, but overall good IPA. Well-balanced enough to compete, but nothing really outstanding in it.
