Deep red - brown beer, clear. Tidy pale tan head. Softish semi dry palate. Sweetish dark malt with a hint of molasses. Whisper of banana ester. Finishes smooth with just a trace of bitterness.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a very dark amber (almost black), with a thin, tan head. Full-bodied, creamy, with light carbonation. Tastes of burnt malt and unsweetened chocolate. Finish is long with just the right amount of bitterness.
An all-around tasty brew.

12 ounce bottle. Nearly opague brown color topped by a small creamy beige head. Smoky roasted malt aroma hints at molasses. Creamy roasted malt flavor with hints of caramel and mocha. Nicely done.

Bottle. Pours clear reddish black with a medium tan head that dissipates with nice lacing. Aroma is grain with light roasty notes. Flavor is roasted grain as well, with some toffee notes, medium sweet, minimal bitterness. Not a lot of porter action here. I dispute the use of the word "hearty" to describe this beer. Body is light for style. Meh.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle extra from JStax, poured into a shaker. Pours opaque black with three finger head beige head. Some thin lacing, medium body, slightly syrupy texture, and roasted malt aroma. Taste is roasted malt, some chocolate, some herbal hops, hint of burnt malt, hint of harshness, and slightly bitter hops. Just average.

12 oz. bottle. Pours black with red hints. The aroma is roasted malts, earth, and pine. The flavor is sweet up front, with significant bitterness through the middle and finish. The palate is medium, sticky and astringent. Overall, this beer is fair, with an unpleasant aftertaste.

12oz bottle from Pick’s poured into an English Pint. Pours a dark brown with about a finger of dark tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and a little chocolate. Taste is light bitter. Roasty malt with a decent bit of pine hops. Medium bodied with a somewhat oily texture. Lively carbonation and a long bitter finish. Overall, very good. Something I would like to drink again.

12 oz. Winter pack bottle. Pours deep brown, in my nonick glass there’s just a little illumination at the bottom. Head like cappuccino foam that stays aroud for a while. Aroma is rather light. Maltier, like a schwarzbier, with a bit of cocoa roast. Taste has more bitter chocolate and coffee to it. More roast as we work our way on down. Pretty fair, once I remember that most of the porters I drink fall into the "Imperial" category. This is just a nice drinking dark beer.
