Brewing this very special, bold beer begins with a complicated mash which includes German Munich malts, lots of caramel malts, a smaller portion of highly roasted grain and even malted wheat. This grain bill creates a big beer with a deep red color and all the rich maltiness you expect with a touch of sweetness. We balance this with a strong hop backbone from some unique hop varieties which contribute plenty of flavors and aromas of their own. The result is a pint glass bursting with character.

Draught at Rose and Raindrop, Portland. Hazy reddish brown. Butterscotch aroma. Sweet and softly malty. The nouthfeel is chewy rather than sticky and there is plenty of mature well developed malt flavours. There is some grapefruity hops, but the malt dominates. A nice, warming beer.

Bottle Pours a hazy redish brown with a nice light tan head and some fine spotty lacing. Aroma is of pitted fruit, caramel and grapes. Tastes abit sharp. Citrusy and the 10% feels pretty strong. Esp after a few moments. Feel is not particularly heavy and the carbonation is a bit much IMHO. Just OK. I spoiled myself on the Full Sail last week.
