Hazy amber color; small head. The aroma is light, fruity and spicy. Caramel flavor, light ashes, light fruitness; correct bitterness, without the American hop punch. Not bad, but nothing special.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of TheCheeseMan. Pours a clear warm copper colour with a small off-white head. Fruity aroma with sweet caramel accents. Medium body, sweet dried fruit, roasted malts and burned caramel. A little ashes perhaps. Very subdued hops. Is 4.8% to be believed?? 100410

pours brown, off-white/tan head. Aroma, dark fruits, malty with hints of berries. Flavors, light palate, pale malts, roast and some spices?, grassy hops, with a touch of coffee roast in the finish. Some dark fruits; date, fig. Palate starts of nicely roasted and malty with bready mouthfeel. Light Belgian yeast mouthfeel. Enjoyed the abbey approach with the more bready/maty finish. Only downside is the finish that was a tad too bitter.

11-25-09---pours a pretty solid medium brown with a small tan head--smells a little nutty and a little fruity (sweet raisin)--I taste and smell caramel--its good --i could see myself sipping on a few of these to tis’ the season--but oh well I have only one to evaluate--as the beer sits in my nose and throat I get a little apple (subtle) like a spiced version--spice and hops midway to say hello--I greet clove and cinnamon--Mouth feel medium--just right --but not super for this style of ale

Tap at Pizzeria Paradiso. Deep amber/chestnut color with a thin head. Malts dominate the taste, light background of spice, slightly bitter finish. Average.

Reddish brown with a tan head. Light spices, roasty malts, some molasses, and a touch of hops in the aroma. Medium, syrup textured, body. A dubbel? Really? Drinks much more like a spiced amber or similar. Malty, roasted, very light spice, some cinnamon, fruity, molasses. Tasty brew for the cold days.

Pours dark cola brown with light tan head. Aromas of toasted malts and doughy yeast. Flavor is toasted malts and candy sugar with some nuttiness. Moderately sweet and fruity. Light to medium body with lively carbonation. Not one of their better brews.

Surprizingly unanticipated dark pour with a little gunk on the bottom. Olfactory is clean and sweet. Interesting banana and dark things going on here, dancing on the taste buds. Has a cereal morph after each slug, unique. I’m not sure how this can be a ’dubble’ at less than 5%! It does however come across like its much more alky. Interesting taste makes you wanna keep sipping it. Certainly flavorful with plenty of personality. Wild thread tugs at the palate. Finish is going flat and it rolls around on the blacktop like a middle aged woman walking after a snow.

Bottle. Pours a pretty reddish brown with lots of carbonation stuck to the sides of the glass (looks almost like a soda) and a frothy head. Aromas are very weak... a bit of maltiness, a little bit of nuts and some vague fruitiness is all I can pick up. Flavor is better, but I’m not seeing how this would qualify as a dubblel. A bit of toffee maltiness, some slightly tart cherries, a bit of cola. Finish is pretty blah, mouthfeel is thin, carbonation is high.

12oz bottle pours amber with copper hues and thin tan to off white head. The aroma is coriander, Belgian candi sugar, beet sugar and some winter spices to go along with currant like fruitiness. The taste is a bit of a jumble of roasted malts, beet sugars, Belgian spice and some coriander. The flavors do come together and improve with a bit of sweet malt sickiness and a touch of chocolate malts.
