Our big hoppy red ale is full of rich caramel malts matched to American hops and just bursting with character - a fitting tribute to the 1872 brilliantly plotted, wonderfully inventive nonsense story, ‘Through the Looking Glass and what Alice found there’ by Lewis Carroll, (of which the mirror that inspired Carroll remains displayed in Charlton Kings today) and introduces the reader to a host of characters such as Tweedledum and Tweedledee, and Humpty Dumpty whose favourite time of day was “brillig” – “four o’clock in the afternoon – the time when you begin broiling things for dinner”, but we prefer it to be the time for beer!

On cask at the Brewhouse & Kitchen (Cheltenham). Appearance - amber with a generous fluffy head. Nose - orange and caramel. Brown bread. Taste - more bread and caramel. Again some subtle citrus. Palate - creamy and roasty in texture. Medium bodied-ish. Roasty finish. Overall - quite like the Bitter.
