Tap at Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fa in Rome. Black color, huge brownish foam with little retention. Nose: interesting aroma where all the ingredients pop up in a way. Figs dominate, sweet vanilla, more dried figs. Mouth: yes it is sweet, not as much as their other beers but round. Overipped cherries, sweet mou. Lovely.

Mother Kelly's. Keg. Opaque brown - black beer, small tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, mild dark chocolate, milder dark malt cream. Some spirity alcohol in the mid. Modest fruity tang on the back end, perhaps a little fig jam. Finishes smooth and warming. Gum numbing alcohol linger. Not the best effort from this brewery, but fine.

Tap at Mother Kellys, with Angus 20th March 18. Pours black, aroma is rich, fruit cake. Taste is sweet, complex, alcohol, could have done with eating. Bitter notes, maybe fig, dark fruits. Fun stuff.

Keg at MK VHX, 19/03/18. Black with a decent tan covering that dissipates to an attractive swirl over time. Nose is liquorice, aniseed, dried fruits, chocolate, spice. Taste comprises bitter sweet chocolate, brown sugar melt, light spice tickle, fruit cake, molasses, figgy jam, candied orange peel. Full bodied, oily mouthful, warming alcohol in the close. Solid impy ... just a touch too sweet for my liking.

Tap @ Põhjala Speakeasy. Dark brown pour, almost black. Little brown foam on the top. Dusty chocolate nose, liquid cocoa, imperial toffee. Somewhat paint-ish plastic booze. Taste is heavy, interesting fruity grappa thing there, feels boozy. Body has some sweetness but mainly schnapps and grappa, mixed. Potent and powerful, little bit too much to really enjoy this. Booze is overpowering in the aftertaste.
