(On tap at Foire Brassicole, Quebec City, Oct 1/21) Pours blackish with a small beige cap. An intense cocktail of earthy coffee and moderately roasted malts, some caramel and unsweetened chocolate but surprisingly dry for such a high ABV stout without too much burnt sugar popping through, cacao and earthy coffee through into the finish with the somewhat burnt grain and boost making for a rather dry and aggressive finish. Warm bitter coffee and roast aftertaste. Medium-bodied, smooth carb, not super boozy for the ABV but not absent either. Fun to try an actual high ABV stout from QC but it's a tough style to pull off at the best of times and I would have been fine with a lower alcohol crack at a coffee stout.
