This is a better than average imperial stout. Black. Lightly roasted malt, and some hop presence. A little sweet, from the malt, but the roasted character lingers as well. A little fruit, and some red wine.

Bottle. Black beer with a brown head. Light roast and chocolate aroma with light oatmeal. Chocolate and light roast flavor. Medium-plus bodied. Chooclate and cocoa lingers with light roast and light oatmeal. Not so impressed.

22oz bottle. Pours a thick oily black with a foamy brown-tan head. The aroma is pleasantly chocolate, not showing much sings of the alcohol. The mouthfeel is thick and full of rich chocolate roastiness. Really quite a nice Imperial Stout, really showcases the rich full chocolate flavors while limiting, perhaps all out eliminating, any alcohol burn. I don’t get much hop character out of it, maybe something in the chalky chocolate aftertaste.

22 ounce bottle from State Line Liquors. Pours a dark chestnut brown appearing opaque in the glass. Large dark tan head with good head retention and lacing. Aroma of heavy roasted malts and heavy chocolate with citrus hops, nuts and coffee. Taste is roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. Some caramel and vanilla also. Fairly strong citrus hop finish. Creamy and full bodied. Very nicely balanced. Fantastic beer.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a dark brown head over a black body. Aroma of chocolate three ways (baking, fudge, and brownie), coffee, cardboard and nutshells. Taste is chocolate, and very strong espresso. Syrupy mouthfeel and light bubbles.

On draft. At the Bocktown, kind place! Ottercreek rus imp stout S6L5F1T3O6: Really nice looking black opaque with creamy brown choco mousse head. Fades to a lingerie thin head. Aroma is mildly sweet, roasty and appetizing to the brain. Taste is at first quite strong and appalling, almost nasty. On style for this brew. Medicinal charcoal flavors. Over the top, man. Was too much, wow. Fairly flat without any sizzles. Long bitter terrible medicine finish. Needs manners.

Very happy and surprised to see a bottle of this at Rodman’s in DC. Bomber pours a deep, opaque black with just a little brown around the fringe with a creamy, enticing brown head. Nose was mild but nice, toast, nuts, slight slight coffee, a little zip of orange. Flavor was very nice and very rounded, dark toasted breads, coffee with cream, sweet and mellow brown sugar. Medium bodied in the mouth with a creamy finish. I really enjoyed this overall and felt it was one of the more rounded RIS that I’ve had a chance to try. I don’t know if I would cellar this as it seems fairly rounded right now.
