Boss Tweed is 9.3% of hazy swagger. So much swagger it’s been one of the Midwest’s highest-rated hazy double IPAs for 7 years and running! An unrestrained, must-try hazy brew bursting with citrusy hops and tropical peach, mango, and tangerine aromas.
A nice pilsner malt backbone with a touch of Vienna provides balance and a lingering sweetness on the back end with a hint of warming from the higher alcohol content.

Strong hazy IPA by a craft brewery in Michigan, from a four and a half month old can, bearing an instruction to roll it horizontally before use to equally distribute the sediment (no doubt inspired by the old Bavarian Hefeweizen, bottles of which are traditionally rolled over the table for a similar effect). Yellowish egg-white, thick, very mousy, cobweb-lacing, bit irregular and gradually opening head over a cloudy, warm ochre-tinged apricot blonde beer. Luscious, tropical and citric aroma of ripe pineapple, mango juice, granadilla, yuzu, freshly cut raw cucumber, cake dough, baker's yeast, lime zest, raw white celery, faint hints of egg yolk, acacia honey, Screwdriver, mud, diesel. Crisp, bright onset, well-played tropical fruitiness with a very citric character, yuzu, mango, granadilla and orange aspects, finely tingling fizz, full and soft, doughy body, sweet maltiness and powdery yeastiness immediately covered in a blanket of orange, mango, lime and papaja juice, but also with a sleek, 'green', herbal, celery-ish aspect keeping things fresh; the hops (five different varieties in this case) also provide some soft, late but essential herbal and citrusy bitterness, while the alcohol, though noticeable as a gently warming glow all the way at the back, behaves very neatly. Another tropical juice bomb - but admittedly a high class one, because of its relative restraint (relative to this exuberant style, that is): it is tropical and sultry enough, but not to the extent that it loses itself as is often the case in this genre; on the contrary, the 'green', very citric, crisp aspect of the hop profile keeps things fresh and vibrant. Perfectly balanced and noticeably made with great care, intelligence and finesse, highly enjoyable even at this age - I can only assume it must have been even better when young. Unexpectedly high level of NEIPA from a brewery hitherto unknown to me.

Can (12/16/19) pour. Appearance is opaque light brown-orange (dark tangerine juice) with some chunks of sediment, light sparkle at the edges of the glass, 2-finger width foamy white head with good retention and light soapy lacing. Aroma is candied fruit, tangerine. Taste is strong candied fruit and tangerine with mild alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth, thick texture, soft carbonation with late lively, stinging kick, some citric and alcohol astringency and finish as taste. Overall, while not being the most complex, strong aroma and flavor.

Pale golden with a thick aroma of wet hops: mosaic and Azteca, citrus. Taste has citrus, dry malt base with a heavy vine note, dry hopped elements. Palate has mild hop bite on the tongue, citra on the nose with smooth malt base. Good.

Can. Hazy gold body. Frothy white head slowly diminishing. Aroma of citrus, orange peel, orange juice, tropical fruits, toasted grain. Sweet and only lightly bitter in the finish. Juicy, like drinking fruit juice. Nice.

Can, american pint, many thanks to Tommy. Shared with Finn at Agenturet Øl og Vinbar. Bubbly white head, hazy orange-gold body, fragile lacing. Inviting smell of ripe lemon and orange. Flavoured with citrus and apricot. Lingering finish with a touch of resinous hops. Well bodied. Does not taste that strong. Pleasant. (Tromsø 27.09.2019).
