Citra hop flavor shines through in this expertly balanced IPA with just the right amount of bitterness. Showcasing local hops, Pike IPA blends citrus and tropical hop flavors with a clean, light malt character. Recently updated from the original 1990 recipe that helped shape North America’s devotion to hops, Pike IPA continues to be in a league of its own.

Caramel and toffee nose with grass and herbal overtones. Dingy old gold color, no head. Marigold flavor initially with a pine finish. Malty aroma, but drinks hoppy. Definitely in the British vein. I like this brewer because they put ABV, OG, and IBU specs on the label. Not only that, but they are brewing good and diverse beer using only the basic ingredients. I admire that.

22 ounce bottle from Total Wine South Richmond, VA, opened 6/19/10. Pours a clear amber color with a medium head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of earthy, floral and fruity hop notes with a good bit of toffee. The taste is grassy, earthy malts with some faint tropical and citrus notes. Also some nutty notes with some toffee. Bitter throughout. Medium bodied. A well balanced, well made IPA. Nice beer.

I had this on tap while hanging out around the Pike St area, luckily this place is close! This isn’t a bad IPA at all, appearance is rather dark amber with lacing but not much head. Aroma is rather faint for an IPA, equal malt/hop balance. Taste is very bitter, not overtly bitter, just very present. Somewhat citrusy, bitey, good stuff.

22 oz bottle. Pours a medium-orange color with a fluffy white head. Aroma is well hopped with a decent malt to balance it out. Flavor has sweet malt notes, and a pretty decent citrus bite to it - good floral hop taste.
