Citra hop flavor shines through in this expertly balanced IPA with just the right amount of bitterness. Showcasing local hops, Pike IPA blends citrus and tropical hop flavors with a clean, light malt character. Recently updated from the original 1990 recipe that helped shape North America’s devotion to hops, Pike IPA continues to be in a league of its own.

11-16-09...12 oz bottle...copper to brown color with a small head...mild floral aroma with decent malt undertones....first taster definite malt driven...nut the hops are there with impeccable timing to balance it all out...a lovely simple good IPA...would seek out again if I was in the area...a little watery in the finish...but overall decent

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours hazy golden with a thin white head. Fairly typical hop aroma and flavour, very well-balanced and smooth. Nice one.

Bomber. Pours a pale orange golden with a medium frothy off white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is floral hops with citrus and caramel. Decent lacing on the glass. Thin mouthfeel with a light floral hop taste with pine and caramel with a nice bitter finish. A good IPA from Pike.

a little too malty for a good IPA. the hops dont come through enough, its almost too balanced. A good IPA should be overwhelmingly hoppy and this is way too sweet. I gave it a try but I wont do it again.

Pours with a small off-white head over a gazed orange body. Good lace left by the head. Aroma of tangy, orange, pacific northwest hops, sticky caramel and some grainy malt. Taste is malty with a bitter, lingering finish. Bittered orange taste, and slightly soggy malts. Creamy-ish mouthfeel, light bubbles.

Clear golden with minimal head. Citric, floral, fruity, and light caramel malts in the nose. Medium to full body. Flavor is full of citrus, pine, light earth, some very light malts. Surprisingly bitter finish for the flavor- and it lingers for quite some time. A very nice, refreshing IPA.

Slightly hazy amber coloured body with an orange glow, a frothy tan head and a bunch of small bubbles - this IS what an IPA should look like! Aroma of fresh hops, caramel, pine, flowers and a lot of fresh apricots - this is very nice. Medium-bodied. Strong chewy malt up front with good hops and a lot of nuts and alcohol following behind. Aftertaste shows a ton of pine, some flowers and more malt than hops - a bit wierd there. Overall, a great IPA by look and smell, but the taste loses something and it feels too rich and malty for an IPA. I still liked it, but prefer more traditional IPAs. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from BottleWorks in Seattle, Washington on 11-November-2008, sampled at home in Washington DC on 08-December-2008.
