Pours golden copper with a lively head. Avatar has a very floral nose while the taste is an elegant balance allowing the subtle flavor of jasmine to prevail while still delivering the I.P.A.’s essential hoppiness.

660 ml bottle. Golden orange body with a lacing off-white head. Aroma is fruity, floral and a bit hoppy. Flavor is mild, harmonic sweet malt, floral, a bit spicy and a light bitterness. Nice and harmonic, but reminds me more of a spicy saison than an IPA. Very interesting, glad I had the whole bottle for myself.

Sample at the Pike Street location. This brew is a clear light orange color with a medium thin and creamy off-white head that diminishes slowly. Sheets of lacing. The aroma is floral and herbal with notes of citrus in the background. Medium-bodied with a welcoming floral character (jasmine of course) and flavors of sweet toasted malt and citrus. Some hops are present as well. The finish is mildly hoppy with the jasmine flavor lingering. Overall this is an interesting beer, yet I am not sure if it is something I would want to enjoy as more than a sample.

Hazy orangey-amber. The aroma is jasmine with a caramelized maltiness in the background. Floral and hoppy, with a beautiful sweetness underneath that allows these characteristics to flow. Finishes with an appetizing bitterness.

Aroma of floral (hop?) and malt. Ripe apricot color with a white head that doesn’t immediately film and leaves lace trace. Thin to medium body. Strong hint of jasmine flavor (kind of like the tea). A real kick in the mouth. Light fruity sweetness balanced by lots of bitter. Seems like more that 40 IBUs. The finish is nicely balanced sweet and bitter. Incredibly enjoyable.

Nice hazy tan coloured body with a good head atop the beer. Aromas of lighter hops, malt, caramel, sweetness and a faint hint of jasmine tea leaves. Medium-bodied; Nice hoppiness up front with a good malt finish and some herbal tastes throughout - some jasmine towards the end, although the flavour of the flower doesn’t really come out too much. Aftertaste is more malty than a normal IPA. Overall, a decent beer, but not great and the jasmine quality of this doesn’t show...so buy this for an IPA not for a jasmine-esque beer. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased at Whole Foods in Portland, Oregon on 03-March-2007.

bottle at the Fort Wayne tasting - Pours lightly hazy copper with a thin head. It has a light aroma of citrus and flowers. The taste is really different. The expected bitterness is there, though mild for the style, but you can also really taste the jasmine. I’d suggest trying it just for something different.

On Tap At Elysian Fields Seattle. pours out a nice amber topped with a white head. Wow the arom of sweet floral in the air. I did like this one. Not to much of the floral a good mix with hops.

Draught Very clear orange-copper beeer with a small rim. Lots of caramel, and unmistakably jasmine - absolutely, sahib. Sweet, way sweeter than an IPA is expected to smell - but not bad, IMO. Sweetish, spicey-flowery jasmine, jasmine tea; surprising absence of bitter/hoppiness. Rather light, smooth, a bit light for this style. Surprising jasmine-dominated taste, just not anywhere like usual IPA’s. Original, worth trying.
