St. Nicholas, aka Santa Claus, is a magical figure, the bringer of gifts and an icon of holiday spirit. Forgotten by most is his evil side kick and enforcer of ‘the list’. European tradition says while St. Nick is busy delivering presents to good little boys and girls, Krampus hands out punishments to the bad. A fanged, goat-horned bully, the Christmas Devil uses sticks and chains to beat the naughty children. Dark malts and aromatic hops create the diabolical spirit of this brew. It is finished with lager yeast and aged cold for no less than 30 days. This Imperial Helles Lager will warm even the darkest hearts.

22oz bomber. Orange amber color, a pinch hazy. Nice long lasting half inch head. Piny christmas tree aroma. Wow. This is one of the best and most original Winter beers Ive had in some time. Wonderfully combining hardcore piny with eastern euro pils hoppiness, almost peppery. Creamy and drinkable, very smooth on the palate. Great beer.

This brew pours a clear orange-amber color with a medium and creamy bone white head that recedes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Earthy malt and spiced hops in the nose, along with some pine. Medium body with flavors of malt, grapefruit, hops and pine. The finish is bittersweet hops and toasted malt. Overall this beer is well-balanced and rather enjoyable.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a small, off-white head that goes leaving a clear bronze body. Aroma is strong pine and spicy hops. Taste is of berries, spice, pine and caramel. Light bubbles and a somewhat syrupy mouthfeel.

Bomber. Pours a coppery amber with a small and frothy, tan head. Aromas are sweet and fruity... a bit of a grapefruit and pineapple hops presence, some pear like sweetness and a little touch of caramel. Flavor is an odd mix of fruit and bitter, and I am not completely sold on it. At times, the caramel and pear seem to play nicely with the pine and grapefruit hops, but most of the time, the two seem dissonant. The aftertaste is almost cloying... a bit of a white grape/wine flavor there.

Pour is a dark amber with an average tan head. Aroma is of a freaking Carolina pine hop forest. Flavor is at first a sharp citrus hops with lots of floral hops to follow. Don’t forget about the malts because they are there at the end with some caramel and biscuit. Another tasty beer from ST and another one that is dangerous to drink because the 9% is no where to be found.

Pours a clear copper, with a soapy, lasting lace - seems like an IPA in the nose at first, as pine-like hops are apparent up front, but they quickly make way for some caramel malt sweetness, bright fruity character (reminding me of the intended style), spicy character, and some earthy, pine cone-ish notes - as the aroma suggests, she’s pretty darn hoppy at first - actually, she’s pretty hoppy throughout - moderate sweetness, grains, and ambiguous fruitiness hide underneath that - some spiciness and warming alcohol late, plus continued spruce and earthy hops - I was expecting an amped up maibock of sorts, but this is more like a lagered imperial ipa - long, bitter finish - not bad, but not all that good, either.

Pours pale ruby into a shaker. Off-white head recedes leaving spot lacing. Sweet resin aromas. Sharp and syrupy with sweet caramel upfront and a lasting resin finish.

Bomber...copper with red highlights...beige head, small but present...sweet and malty aroma with some spices on the nose as well as sharp fresh hops...creamy body...hops on the tongue, and sweet malts...nice balance...spicy hop finish with a touch of sweet caramel...wayyy too easy to drink for a 9% beer.... Krampus is a funny word..:)

22 ounce bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, shared with cdumler. Pours a beautiful clear reddish orange with a medium white head, decent lacing and head retention. Very odd aroma with massive hop notes, including wood, floral, citrus and herbal notes. Also very subtle caramel and watermelon notes. Not much malt at all in the aroma. Taste is very similar but with a shift towards the citrus side of things, and maybe slightly more herbal. Medium-full bodied. Certainly an odd beast this is, and not reminiscent in the least of a helles lager.
