At Kasteel Brouwerij Vanhonsebrouck we mature our Kasteel Tripel in recycled cognac barrels. This beer style is called ‘Barrel Aged’, aging beer in recycled barrels. Our brewer fills previously used cognac barrels with Kasteel Tripel to ensure that the beer retains the taste of cognac without losing its own identity. The Trignac is a full-mouthed degustation beer and appeals to anyone who loves beer and cognac!

Bottle thanks to a neighbour. Pours clear pale gold with a thin white head. Boozy apple nose, spice and bread. Taste is woody, bready, more apple, apple crumble almost. Bit of booze heat. Fino sherry at the end.

2018 bottle drunk 2020. Foamy white head stayed on a finely carbonated straw coloured body. Stewed fruit & malt aroma. Full bodied, sticky on the palate with a sharp back. Sweet orange, marmalade, malt, yeast, brandy & big boozy tastes. Typical super strength Kasteel - Excellent sipper.

Shared bottle at RB/HD at Bjørnøy 06.06.20. Dark golden. Some white head. Sweet aroma and taste of sweet malt, marmalade and so on. Heavy drinking.

0,75 flaske delt på RBHD-samling på Bjørnøy juni-20: nesten helt klar gylden med fint skum. Gunnar har hatt denne med fler ganger, og endelig er vi der. Antydning til oksydering uten at det egentlig sjenerer. Svisker, søte appelsiner, gule epler og rosiner.

Corked bottle, 4558 of 9000. Pours a huge head. Raspberry, vanilla and hints of oak in the aroma. Malty sweetish, slightly alcoholic flavor with the slightest hints of cognac and vanilla. Hints of peach. Pleasant, but the effect of cognac barrel aging should be more noticeable.

2015 vintage. Light orange pour, bit cloudy and not too much foam on the top there. Sweet and candy spice nose, somewhat estery. Tastes herbal sweet, candy sweetness, pleasant freshness there actually.
