After two years of Cheating, we've reformed our ways! Every hop variety deserves a place in our IPAs, but some require recipe tweaks and brewing tricks to get the most out of them. For Cheaper Hops, we added 2 lbs of hops per barrel to the mash (part of 8 lbs/bbl overall), blended two experimental strains for fermentation, and added an enzyme to the whirlpool to free fruity hop aromatics by way of bound glycosides. The result is a saturated and complex hop aroma that leaps out of the glass with passion fruit, herbaceous lime, and candied grapefruit.
