Grumpy Old Men is a throwback to the salad days of craft brewing, brewed with whole cone hops using a device called a "hopback" - a lauter tun for hops. The hopback strains out the hops but can also be filled with hops to infuse the wort with flavor and aroma. We used Cascade in the kettle plus Chinook and Centennial in the hopback. The flavors and aromas are earthy and woodsy with some pine and citrus.
