A very smooth dark beer, where alcohol balances well with bitterness. The roasted malts give this beer its aromas of coffee, mixed with the discreet aromas of spices, liquorice and juniper berries.

Tasting at Papsø’s
Hazy dark amber color. Dusty caramel aroma, maybe chocolate. Dry mouthfeel, some dry caramel and chocolate flavor. Once more French breweries have trouble with dark beers.

Bottled. A hazy red-brown beer with an off-white head. The aroma has notes of citrus, dusty hops, and some caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and dusty hops, leading to a bitter finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a clear deep amber with an off-white head. Roasted malty nose - a little cocoa. Medium body, roast malt and a vague ashiness combined with some metal. Vague bitterness in the finish - more dry than really bitter. 110110

33 cL bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is spiced and phenolic. Spiced, roasted malt and again rather phenolic base note. Lingering roasted malt finish. Bitter and dry far finish with a lasting spiced impression.

Bottle from La Cave à Bulles. Dark brown color with a fizzy tan head. Aromas of chocolate and darkly roasted malt. Med. minus body and fizzy carbonation. Pretty much chocolate over dark malt. There is fruit and spice in background, but the chocolate is dominant. And it is dry. Good ale.
