Bottle at C&R Pre-GBBF Tasting 2017. It pours jet black with a small beige head. The aroma is soft, sweet, rich roasted malts, creamy, sticky, treacle, chocolate, honeycomb, vanilla and a touch of spice. The taste is slick, oily, honeycomb, toasty, dark roasted malt, slick, chewy toffee, earthy, leather, cocoa, charred wood, light spice and warming alcohol with a slick finish. Full body and fine, prickly carbonation. Well rounded and way more drinkable than it should be.

Bottle shared at Chriso’s and Ruth pre GBBF shindig, August 5, 2017. Brown pour. Flat. Bourbon nose, vanilla and barrel quite strong. Taste is decent chocolaty stout gotten more boozy with the barrel I guess. Sweet and creamy and with some fresh booze. Honey disappears a bit but still good.

Sample at Kurtkeller 025: Eclipse-tastic 01 on 12/23/2016. Black pour with a medium frothy beige head that diminishes gradually to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of oak, whiskey, dark chocolate and spice. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky char, rye whiskey, malt and bittersweet chocolate. The finish is oaky with a spicy rye and malt aftertaste. Good beer all around.
