Bottle from John's Marketplace. Pours a pitch black hue with a large beige head, very creamy. A big fruity rum-like nose. Big not rye whiskey, beastly, super fresh, cocoa, some sweet figs. Very big, massive barrel. Lovely.

Bottle split at Chris & Ruth's pre GBBF Shin Dig, cheers for all the shares, 05/08/17. Black with a decent tan covering. Nose is chocolate, honey, light spice, sweet malts, mellow roast and barrel. Taste comprises toffee fudge, chocolate melt, light spice trail, molasses, oak, vanilla, dark fruit rinds, sweet rise. Full body, fine carbonation, balanced warming alcohol in the close. Another solid impy stout from this stable if a touch sweeter than I'd like.

Bomber from Cap Tap. Pours dark brown with a foamy dark tan head. Aroma of chocolate, dark treacle and spice. Near full bodied. Very chocolate in flavor. It's spicy enough to bring mint to mind, but I think it's the rye barrel. Must have been a "newish" barrel. Chocolate rye is a nice flavor. Far from dry. The dark chocolate and spice substitute for hops on malt submergence duty.

The great pre GBBF bottleshare at ChrisO’s. Thanks to Steve. Almost opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth dry dark chocolate laden malts. Trace of vanilla. Touches of honey and spice. Some dark fruits undernerath. Spicy dry finish. Decent but hard to get excited about,

Bottle, acquired at the brewpub. Pours clear black, medium brown head, dissipates leaving good lacing. Aroma is pretty noticeable rye whiskey, cocoa, oak, molasses. Flavor is medium sweet, light plus bitter, rye whiskey. Medium body. You had better like rye.

Aus der Flasche die Version 2016 (Dark Olive Green Wax) im 2017-10 getrunken. Diese Spitzenstout kriegt seine besondere Note durch das doch eher würzigere Rye BA. Ein wirklich leckerer Kandidat.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle. Aroma is chocolate forward with some light roast notes. Hints of raisin and sherry. Light whiskey notes adding a bit of spiciness and light oak. A bit of honey and caramel as it warms. Pours black with a medium sized, thick, creamy, mocha head that shows solid retention as it recedes to a thin film that lingers. Light lacing and moderate length legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with chocolate, honey and caramel followed by some roast and lingering toasted bread in the finish. Hints of raisin and dark fruit. Light oak with medium light whiskey notes. Whiskey contributes some alcohol spice and a bit of the caramel and toasted bread notes. Mouthfeel is medium full to full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty nice beer. Lots of nice chocolate malts with some light roast and they rye whiskey notes really compliment the base stout.
